Hand-dyed and eco-printed silk habotai and silk chiffon scarves.
The unique and beautiful designs on these scarves are created through a multi-step process. The scarves are first hand-dyed using Turmeric to create a rich yellow/gold base colour. Once the base colour was set, we laid Maple Leaves gathered from along the Trans Canada Trail onto the silk. Each scarf was then rolled tightly with the leaves and steamed for 2-3 hours to permanently imprint the leaf patterns onto the silk. The end product is a unique piece of wearable art.
Habotai and chiffon are the most popular fabrics used in silk scarf dyeing. Habotai silk is a smooth weave of silk cloth known for its lustrous sheen, fineness, lightweight, and very soft feel. It drapes beautifully and can be worn in a variety of ways. Silk chiffon is a matt, lightweight, semi-sheer fabric with a more loosely woven crepe-like texture. It has a soft beautiful drape.
Each scarf in this listing is a unique creation. Please ensure you look through all the options as no two scarves are the same (pricing will vary depending on the size of the scarf).
Hand-washable in cool water with mild detergent. Lay flat or hang to dry. Iron on "silk" setting.
