ABOUT THE MAKER
My name is Skyla and I’m the woman behind the scenes crafting your knits!
I’m a mom to a wonderful baby boy and fur child, Beau the German Shepherd (he’s also on Instagram as @beauthestinker).
My full time gig is with the GOC and casually assisting my husbands company with admin duties. I am compensated by his incredible baked goods and elaborate breakfasts ?
Aside from knitting, I really enjoy gardening, fixing up our home, interior design (thank goodness I married a contractor), I exercise when I have time and try to keep my personal instagram relevant with images of my trail walks. I prefer beer over of wine *GASP!*, I love anything chocolate-hazelnut flavoured and I love love my coffee. This is to help you with any gift ideas for ME! ?
I started knitting at a very young age, I’m so thankful my mom introduced me when I was about 6 years old when we lived in Peterborough. I remember she made me this gigantic hot pink scarf when I was a toddler. It had tassels made out of white baby yarn with the rainbow speckles. The scarf was longer than me and I loved it so much. I wanted to make one too eventually! She started me with a white chunky yarn and a simple garter stitch. I was trying to make a simple scarf but it turned out to look like a diaper because I lost a bunch of stitches in the middle and then tried to add them back near the end of the project. It was awesome.
I picked up knitting again during college and haven’t really put down the needles since.
My goal for this shop is to offer modern garments for baby & kids so please ‘favourite’ me on Etsy, Ottawa Artisans, and follow my social media pages @skylahandmade to stay informed!
Stay cosy and thanks for stopping by ❤️
