One of our most popular items, this darning mushroom is specifically designed for people who have difficulty grasping thin handles. Perfect for those with arthritic hands who need a thicker (fatter) handle to hold on to.
Because they are turned using hand tools, the handles vary slightly in shape and dimensions but are generally 1” to 1.25" thick and 3.5” to 4” long.
The handles are usually Oak whereas the tops are made from a wide variety of woods with contrasting colours such as Padauk, Purpleheart , Walnut , Merbau or Bloodwood, depending on availability. They may also be combined with a top of lighter coloured woods like Cherry, Walnut, Butternut or Ash. I will try to accommodate your preference if you indicate it when placing an order.
