Needle Felted Cactus Garden Pin Cushion in a Vintage Silver Creamer
This enchanting cactus garden is a pincushion, but can also be used as a decoration. The pincushion and cacti are needle felted from 100% virgin wool. There are saguaro, barrel and prickly pear cacti arranged on the pincushion.
It's decorated with multi-colour acrylic flower beads and comes comes with all the colourful pins shown in the photos.
The pincushion is 15 cm tall to the top of the saguaro cactus (6") and 15 cm wide (6") at its widest point. This vintage sugar bowl is silver plate.
Perfect for quilters, sewers, or crafters. It also makes an adorable decoration!
Needle felting is the art of creating three-dimensional objects from wool fibres using a special felting needle. Wool fibres have tiny scales which will lock together when agitated with hot soapy water or in this case, with a felting needle. When the needle is stabbed into carded wool (unspun wool), the barbs on the needle catch the wool fibres and force them together and inwards, but not back out again. This action repeated over and over, causes the wool fibers to matt together into a solid fabric or a sculpture. This is slow work, but very meditative, relaxing, and fun!
