"En Montant la Riviere"
Acrylic paints on canvas, 24" wide X 30" long, two coats of polymer gel over the paints for isolation, and two coats of varnish (with UVLS: Ultra Violet Light Stabilizers) as a final finish for long range preservation (considered museum quality conservation).
"En Montant la Riviere" is a reflection of our past when adventurers called coureur des bois would canoe for thousands of miles, all over North America, taking care of business, namely exploring new lands and plying the fur trade. The title is one line of a traditional song they sang while paddling up and down the country.
From a photograph taken at Mazinaw Lake Narrows, part of Bon Echo Provincial Park, in Eastern Ontario, on a sunny day, in early October. The spirit of adventure is alive and well.
